More information

Expertly crafted using both contemporary and traditional methods, each one is bound by hand and ready to withstand any knocks and bumps on their journeys with you. The leather used for the cover is a by-product of the meat industry in India and is tanned using only natural dyes. Protected with natural oils, it will soften and age beautifully. The embossed detail is created using small handmade tools, making each journal unique. The pattern around the edge of the cover might not be exactly the same as the one pictured, but it will be just as beautiful.

The pages are created from khadda paper (also known as kaddi or khaddi). This sustainable material is crafted by hand from recycled cotton, salvaged from the huge waste of the Indian garment industry. Only unbleached cotton is used, ensuring the paper is acid-free. Lightly textured and luxuriously thick, it feels beautiful to write, draw, or paint on. While it’s perfect for ball-point pens, gel pens, or watercolours, we wouldn’t recommend it for use with fountain pens.

Our journals can be used in many ways, here are a few ideas:
• Using it for journaling.
• Letting your creativity flow by scrapbooking/painting.
• Keeping organised by creating your own bullet journal, with habit trackers and your monthly calendar.
• Making a gratitude/reflective diary, perfect for writing affirmations, your goals, and intentions for the future.
• Taking a travel journal on all your adventures, making it an excellent companion for solo travellers.
• Logging your dreams and sleep patterns to gain a deeper understanding of your inner self.

Due to the nature of the material and handmade quality of this product, each journal is unique and comes with its own set of beautiful creases, bumps and marks that develop with age into something truly special.

Our Journal & Photo Album Producer

India

All the products in this range are handmade by a small family business in Rajasthan, India.

We are fortunate enough to visit them every year, having worked with them for many years following Fair Trade guidelines. We are incredibly proud that together we are able to provide people in rural villages fairly paid work that may have otherwise been difficult to find, and consider the producers and their families true friends.

The paper in all our journals and photo albums is made by a charity in rural Rajasthan that promotes women’s education and their social standing in the rural villages. For more information about the sustainable materials used, take a look at the product description.

By making a purchase, you are helping to continue the fantastic work of our producers.
