Newspaper is one of the most commonly discarded items globally. By recycling newspapers and creating them into products, we are significantly reducing the amount sent to landfills, extending their life cycle, conserving natural resources such as trees, water and energy, and transforming them into useful, colourful and lightweight homeware goods.
How are recycled newspaper products made?
- The newspaper is collected and cut into thin bands.
- It is tightly hand rolled into narrow tubular strips and naturally dyed with earthy tones.
- These strips are then either flattened in a machine and used for woven products, like our pencil holders, or kept untouched and used as is, like our frames.
- Once the strips are ready, they are cut to the right size and glued or woven together to create the product.
