The Story in Short

Our colourful, quirky recycled plastic square coasters were born out of a desire to reduce India’s mountain of waste, by turning plastic bags and discarded hard plastics into beautiful products.

Handcrafted from recycled plastic, they are a great eco-friendly alternative to virgin plastic coasters. An excellent new home or little gift for a planet-friendly pal.

Sending as a gift? Everything we send comes in lovely recyclable packaging, with the option to add a gift note at checkout (printed on recycled, textured A6 card with our branding). As standard, the price is never printed on the packing slip.

We offer an in-house gift-wrapping service or you can purchase our beautiful handmade gift wrap and gift boxes to do this at home.

More information

The plastic is collected and segregated by type and colour before being thoroughly washed. No dyes are added to this process, the colour and designs come purely from the layering of plastic. The plastic is then put into a machine which turns it into a durable, waterproof plastic fabric or solid sheet, ready to be made into a unique product.

Please note that each recycled plastic square coaster is unique and possesses distinct traits. Due to the handmade nature of these products there may be some minor imperfections such as scratches and blemishes.

Conserve India

India

Employing and training hundreds of people from Delhi’s most disadvantaged communities, Conserve India are an NGO that create beautifully unique leather, recycled plastic and natural cork products, and put the profits back into the same communities to improve education and welfare.

Born out of a desire to reduce India’s mountain of waste, they recycle and repurpose materials in their designs wherever possible. The leather used for their bags and accessories is salvaged from the waste of their local meat industry, and they’ve even developed a patented technique of upcycling plastic waste.

Their ongoing research into the use of new recycled fibre blends, eco-friendly farming techniques, and community engagement make them a truly fantastic Fair Trade producer.
