All of our leather journals are handmade by a small family business in Rajasthan, India. They have been expertly crafted using a mixture of contemporary and traditional methods and the pages have been bound by hand so they are strong and perfect for travelling.
The paper used in these journals is handmade using recycled cotton (also known as khadda, kaddi or khaddi) leftover from the massive garment industry in India. It is acid-free because we only use unbleached cotton and it produces a beautiful paper, easy to write, draw or paint on. We don't recommend using a fountain pen with this type of handmade paper.
The leather used is a by-product of the meat industry in India and is tanned using only natural dyes.
The embossed pattern might not be the same as on the image but will be just as lovely and carefully made.
Due to the handmade nature of these products colour and designs may slightly vary but loveliness comes as standard.

All the products in this range are made by a small family business in Rajasthan who we have worked with for many years following Fair Trade guidelines. We visit every year and we now know the producers and their families well and consider them true friends. We are proud that together we are able to provide people in rural villages fairly paid work that would have otherwise been difficult to find.
The khadda paper used in the products is handmade using recycled cotton leftover from the massive garment industry in India. The paper is made by a charity in rural Rajasthan that promotes women’s education and their social standing in the rural villages.
The leather used for the covers is a byproduct of the meat industry and is tanned using natural dyes.
We respect our producers and it is very important to us that we treat them fairly. We pay all our producers 50% upfront and send money to them whenever they need it and we never return anything, even if it’s damaged. To incentivise the staff, we have a bonus system in place.

The journal is a nice enough thing, but the clasp is described as brass and it clearly isn't, as it left a distinct rust stain on the first page of the journal. When you are relying on photos and written description, this kind of thing is disappointing. |
Apologies you are not 100% happy with the indra hefty embossed leather journal, there clearly shouldn't be a problem with any of the pages, the only thing i can think of is that the leather had a too high moisture content (as it was made suring the wet season) and it carried over to the first page. ...

Apologies you are not 100% happy with the indra hefty embossed leather journal, there clearly shouldn't be a problem with any of the pages, the only thing i can think of is that the leather had a too high moisture content (as it was made suring the wet season) and it carried over to the first page. This should have been picked up over there and we will DM you to sort this issue out. |
