Product Description

Details

Our Daisy Blue albums are handmade by a small family business in Rajasthan, India. They have been expertly crafted using a mixture of contemporary and traditional methods and the pages have been bound by hand so they are strong and perfect for travelling.

The paper used in these albums is handmade using recycled cotton (also known as khadda, kaddi or khaddi) leftover from the massive garment industry in India. It is acid-free because we only use unbleached cotton and it produces a beautiful paper, easy to write, draw or paint on. We don't recommend using fountain pen with this type of handmade paper.

Because the paper is acid-free it is perfect for protecting and preserving photographs. Photos can be added using photo corners, spray mount or just glue. Photograph corners can be found in any good photography shop or stationers.

Make a Difference

Indian Making a differenceBy buying this product you will be supporting the work of skilled artisans and craftspeople in Rajasthan, India.

All the products in this range are made by a small family business in Rajasthan who we have worked with for many years following Fair Trade guidelines.

We visit every year and we now know the producers and their families well and consider them true friends. We are proud that together we are able to provide people in rural villages fairly paid work that would have otherwise been difficult to find.

The khadda paper used in the products is handmade using recycled cotton leftover from the massive garment industry in India. The paper is made by a charity in rural Rajasthan that promotes women’s education and their social standing in the rural villages.

The beautiful sari material is handmade using man-made fibres because we are uncomfortable with the  traditional methods used to make silk.

We respect our producers and it is very important to us that we treat them fairly. We pay all our producers 50% upfront and send money to them whenever they need it and we never return anything, even if it’s damaged. To incentivise the staff, we have a bonus system in place.
