The colourful stripes are made from the discarded offcuts of the massive garment industry in India by an NGO devoted to promoting wasteland development, women's empowerment in rural areas and the fair treatment of its artisans, these bags represent a new way to create sustainable products that not only look good, but do good too.
Individually hand made they are also made to last so that each and every bag is made with the same care, attention and skill as brand new ones that come from the same makers. You can be sure that these 'recycled' bags will not only add a touch of vibrant colour to your life, but will do so for years to come.

Our beautiful products are made by TARA Projects (Trade Alternative Reform Action). They are WFTO members and a Fair Trade Forum India founder member. TARA Projects began in the early 1970's with the object of creating opportunities and support for economically disadvantaged, home based artisans and crafts people of Delhi and its surrounding areas. Over the years the project has extended its work into the adjoining states of Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Rajasthan. TARA Projects provides services to enable the production and marketing of handicrafts following Fair Trade principles, alongside providing education and support to empower grassroots craftspeople. At the heart of TARA Projects' work is the dedication to eradicating poverty by fighting against exploitation and illiteracy of the producers and its working communities. They have helped fund schools and empower women as part of their overall drive to support marginalised groups in India.
