Antara Soft Black Leather Journal

Product Code: LNB6SB

This beautiful Fair Trade leather journal is handmade by a small family business in Rajasthan, India. The black leather has a soft and supple feel to it; because it has been bound by hand, our soft black leather journal is strong and perfect for traveling. The journal comes complete with a presentation box and a protective natural cotton bag too.

Each handmade leather journal contains approximately 125 pages of unlined khadda paper. Khadda paper is made from recycled cotton, is acid-free and is a beautiful paper to write or draw on.

We also offer a personalisation option in the bottom right hand corner of the journal. Getting your journal personalised can give your gift (or present to yourself) that extra special something.

Choose up to 4 letters/characters .You can also add up to two additional punctuation marks/spaces if required.

Stamping is available in either gold, silver, or blind debossed (no colour imprint). We currently only offer one font, which is pictured in the images (Please note that all wording is in uppercase). Please note that the use of the & symbol counts as a letter and not a punctuation mark.

Due to the handmade nature of these products, colour may slightly vary, but loveliness comes as standard. The black leather is a natural product and is, therefore, likely to vary from journal to journal, making each one as unique as you are!

Product Description

All of our leather journals are handmade by a small family business in Rajasthan, India. They have been expertly crafted using a mixture of contemporary and traditional methods and the pages have been bound by hand so they are strong and perfect for traveling.

The paper used in these journals is handmade using recycled cotton (also known as khadda, kaddi or khaddi) leftover from the massive garment industry in India. It is acid-free because we only use unbleached cotton and it produces a beautiful paper, easy to write, draw or paint on. We don't recommend using fountain pen with this type of handmade paper.

The leather used is a by-product of the meat industry in India and is tanned using only natural dyes.

All the products in this range are made by a small family business in Rajasthan who we have worked with for many years following Fair Trade guidelines. We visit every year and we now know the producers and their families well and consider them true friends. We are proud that together we are able to provide people in rural villages fairly paid work that would have otherwise been difficult to find.

The khadda paper used in the products is handmade using recycled cotton leftover from the massive garment industry in India. The paper is made by a charity in rural Rajasthan that promotes women’s education and their social standing in the rural villages.

We respect our producers and it is very important to us that we treat them fairly. We pay all our producers 50% upfront and send money to them whenever they need it and we never return anything, even if it’s damaged. To incentivise the staff, we have a bonus system in place.
